ITM ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION OF ITM BOARD REPRESENTATION AND OTHER BOARD CHANGES

Public statement of thanks from ITM chair

The Institute of Travel & Meetings (ITM) has announced that Pauline Powderly, of Primark, has resigned from the central ITM board this week as a buyer director to focus more time on her work and personal life. Ms Powderly was an ITM board director for 8 years and has been an ITM member for more than 26 years. She stepped down as ITM Ireland chair in 2008 and was replaced by Fiona Healy of the Dublin City Development Board.

Speaking about her resignation, Ms Powderly said, "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Board and was part of many changes that happened in the earlier stages of the development of ITM - but I really do need to let go now and focus on other things."

Pauline Powderly's exit from the board coincides with the stepping down of a UK board director, Kevin King, formerly of FcM Travel Solutions, after his second term has come to an end.

The ITM board is meeting this week to decide how many directors the association would like to attract to the board and what roles they will play before announcing the vacancies to the membership within the next two weeks.

Caroline Strachan, ITM chairman, said," We are very sorry to see both Pauline and Kevin go from the board. Both have played major parts in ITM's history and their passion and dedication to the association has been faultless. Kevin played a major role in ensuring suppliers became equal members in 2004/5 and Pauline has led the Ireland region with great determination. I would like to publicly thank both for their contribution."
