ITM Member Survey Endorses Association

A recent survey issued by the Institute of Travel & Meetings UK & Ireland (ITM) to measure member satisfaction and the direction of the association has provided a ringing endorsement of recent strategies. An enormous 76% of members said that they believed the association was at the forefront of the industry, with 94% saying that ITM was heading in the right direction. Members indentified the main reasons for joining the association as "education" and "networking" and then subsequently scored these high when asked how well ITM delivers these functions.

When it comes to the delivery of ITM Events, members also scored highly with 53% saying that ITM Events were either the "best" or "generally better than others in the industry". This rose to 76% when specifically asked about the annual ITM conference.

The membership also highlighted "security" and "environment" as the two biggest priorities when it comes to lobbying on their behalf. In addition, the board and the regional commities of ITM were generally seen as approachable and effective.

"This is a great endorsement for the work the association has undertaken in the last few years and it very pleasing to see some hard facts about member satisfaction regardless of how many anecdotal comments you get", says Paul Tilstone, ITM Chief Executive. "It's also interesting to see the website and its resources scoring so highly when we are only just at the beginning of the process of turning this into a vast library of content for our members."

In addition to the largely positive feedback, members also endorsed the move to more electronic communication and away from paper information, in line with the goals of Project ICARUS.
