ITM RAISES OVER £21,000 FOR CHARITY!

Updated: 09-01-2009

ITM's CSR policy goes further than simply aiming to reduce CO2 emissions.

The Institute of Travel & Meetings UK & Ireland (ITM) is pleased to announce as part of their CSR policy ‘to support local and national charities through fundraising at events'  they have raised over £21,400 in 2008.

ITM raised £6,000 at the Regional Scottish Ball in January where 190 people attended at the Roxburgh Hotel. The money was raised via the raffle and ticket sales and went to Barnado's Care and Hope Appeal. The money helped to build a residential house for children with severe learning difficulties which they are able to visit several times a year, giving their parents a well earned break. The ITM Scottish Regional Chair, Patricia Halloran commented, "I was at the opening of the house, it is very impressive and a great deal of voluntary work is done here. The children also have an amazing time."

A further £12,000 was raised during the annual conference in Dublin 2008 and at the recent South East Christmas Party. The money raised went to the Chairman's charity Cruse Bereavement Care. Cruse Bereavement Care exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people and to enable anyone bereaved by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss. Services are free to bereaved people and the charity provides support and offers information, advice, education and training services.

Finally, the ITM North Region has risen over £3,400 for the East Cheshire Hospice and HCPT Manchester during their charity raffle and auction at the Annual Ball.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Regional Scottish Chair, Patricia Halloran, the North Region Chair, Jean Handley and the Chairman, Caroline Strachan for their incredible efforts towards raising this money.
