ITM RECRUITMENT SEEKS NEW PARTNER

Updated: 29-04-2009

The Institute of Travel and Meetings (ITM) and Purcon announced today that they have decided to part from their ITM Recruitment joint venture. The recruitment business was established in 2005 to combine Purcon's expertise in procurement and ITM's travel sector contacts but the recent economic climate has meant that Purcon has made the decision to focus on core activity.

The ITM Recruitment business will continue to be supported by Purcon over the summer until a new provider has been appointed by ITM, once a full RFP process has been undertaken by the ITM board.

Speaking on behalf of ITM, Paul Tilstone, chief executive, talked about the success of the project to date, "The relationship with Purcon has worked well and we are confident the right recruitment partner for the association is out there. We are looking for a partner who can drive returns to the association and we believe the way to do this is focus on the supply sector rather than procurement. To ITM, the provision of this service is about more than money, it is important as part of our Academy project in helping people develop their careers. The ITM Recruitment brand is well established and has helped many people in the industry on their way in business. "

Purcon, one of the foremost recruitment providers in the procurement sector has made the decision to focus on its main procurement businesses at a time when recruitment has been hit by the economy.

Tony English, Purcon managing director, said, " We have enjoyed our relationship with ITM but we both recognise that things have come to a natural conclusion. I guess when times get tough it highlights the different direction the two parties wish to go in. We are splitting amicably and I'm sure ITM will find another partner after the success we achieved together in developing the proposition."

ITM is inviting existing travel and meetings recruitment providers to contact it to register their interest for inclusion in the tender process. Interested parties should contact paul.tilstone@itm.org.uk
