AVERY REPLACES PILCHER AS PROJECT ICARUS CHAIRMAN
Industry Leader Steps Down After 2 Year Period
ITM has announced today that Tony Pilcher, ex head of business travel management at HSBC and director of Pilcher Associates Limited, is stepping down as Project ICARUS chairman and Mark Avery, immediate past chairman of ITM, will be taking up the post with immediate effect.
Avery, head of business services for PricewaterhouseCoopers, takes over the position having instigated the project during his time as ITM chairman and as the lead in his company being the first to be accredited by ICARUS. He will be joining Jeremy Paxman on stage in his new role during a session dedicated to aviation and the environment during ITM's conference on 27th March.
Tony Pilcher, the Project ICARUS chairman since 2006, said "Having had the honour and privilege of being Chairman since the Advisory Group's inception in 2006, I now feel that the time is right for me to hand over the Chairman's baton. Project ICARUS has been a resounding ITM strategic success built upon the vision of Mark Avery when he led the CSR debate during his term as ITM Chairman. The project couldn't be in better hands."
Praising the contribution of the outgoing chairman, Paul Tilstone, ITM's Chief Executive said, "Tony has been a source of inspiration for the project and gave us a steady hand on the tiller in the early days of the project's development. We will be sorry to see him go but are comforted by the knowledge that Mark takes the reigns at an exciting time, with so many plans in the making. With the great project team we have in place this is going to be a good year for ICARUS."
The project recently announced a complete overhaul of the tools it offers members and subscribers and it is focusing on increasing the number of companies committed to the project in 2009.
