ITM APPOINTS RESOURCES PARTNER

Updated: 10-05-2010

Templates and Resources To Be Created For UK Buyers

The Institute of Travel & Meetings (ITM) UK & Ireland has appointed Advito, the consulting arm of BCD Travel, as their new "ITM Resources" partner. The appointment has come after a detailed tender process undertaken by an ITM representative team led by Sarah Makings, European Category Manager for KPMG and ITM Board Director.

The deal will see Advito deliver a series of templates and resources aimed primarily at travel buyers based in the UK who are looking for standard templates across policy, RFPs and other travel management functions. The establishment of ITM Resources was facilitated by the arrival of Jamie Hindhaugh, ITM's new Chairman in January, who has promised to deliver real tools for those managing travel and meetings. Initially all tools will be targeted at those who are new to the industry or work for small to medium enterprises (SME's) but ITM and Advito see a natural development of the service to help standardise templates used in the industry for all travel and meeting buyers over time, with the net result that the RFP process becomes more efficient for all concerned. As such the team will co-operate with three existing ITM working parties and their leadership: SMENE (SME & New Entrants), GLOCAL (Global information provided locally) and MEET (Meetings & Events).

Talking about the appointment, Sarah Makings said, "Advito offered us a wide range of impressive tools and templates that we will be able to offer to our members over the next 18 months. Their overall proposal and vision really impressed us and we believe that these documents will represent best practice in the industry and this was key in our decision making process." She also added, "We will be establishing an ongoing ITM team in the next few weeks to work with Advito to create the resources as soon as possible and will choose a representative stakeholder group from ITM members that have expressed an interest."

Torsten Kriedt, Advito's Vice President, added,"We have a passion for helping the industry and the opportunity to work with an association like ITM is a real honor. We will be invoking all sorts of modern collaboration techniques to capture the knowledge and contributions of buyers based in the UK to ensure the tools created don't remain static and ageing documents, but progress as the travel and meetings management profession progresses."
