ITM is a not-for-profit organisation established in 1956 to support the business travel industry.
Its main activities extend to promoting best practice, benchmarking and the development of individual and collective expertise through a structured education and research programme.
ITM is dedicated to promoting business travel as a profession. The association lobbies, and is consulted by, government departments, as well as educational establishments, the travel trade and the corporate sector in general.
ITM has a national profile and regional structure. The board of directors create policy and form the decision making body of the institute, whilst all ITM members are affiliated to one of five regions.
Although ITM draws its members from the UK and Ireland, with an affiliated organisation in Southern Africa, the association provides members with an international perspective through co-operation with other national and international associations.
