ITM Professional Certificate Course
The Professional Certificate Course (PCC) is designed for managers involved in decision-making and strategy development within business travel management, and for other experienced business travel operations personnel.
The course is intended to meet the need for professional development, giving recognition for professional competence and enabling the development of improved knowledge, skills and understanding required to effectively perform and control the management and operation of corporate travel.
There are five units with a notional study time of thirty hours each. These units cover :
Strategic planning for corporate travel
This unit covers the groundwork necessary to facilitate informed strategic
decisions on total company travel costs, service supplier choices and other
policy matters.
Corporate travel policy
This unit assesses the establishment and communication of a corporate travel
policy to meet business objectives and satisfy traveller expectations while
reflecting corporate culture.
Selection of business travel service suppliers
This unit addresses effective practice in supplier selection and negotiation,
with particular reference to competitive tendering linked to the realisation of
cost and quality objectives.
Contract management for business travel
This unit is concerned with the day-to-day activity of travel service provision
and covers the way in which agreements with service providers are translated
into operational practice to achieve the promised cost and service benefits.
The management of information for corporate travel
This unit clarifies the nature of management information as distinct from
financial data.
The certificate is a level 4 qualification within the National Qualification Framework. As an Edexcel validated programme, the qualification is equivalent to a Higher National Certificate or first year of a degree course and has both national and international currency in terms of recognition and credit towards other qualifications.
At this level the emphasis is on self-study and involves a commitment to obtaining and utilizing information with much less external intervention than at lower levels, and the programme takes about a year to complete.
The combination of the self-study approach with a system of mentoring and ongoing assessment means the course is suitable for non-UK residents or those who would find travelling difficult. There is an introductory one-day workshop, attendance at which is compulsory, but if travelling to London for this workshop is not possible please make this clear on your application form and the necessary information will be provided by alternative means, such as tele-conference.
The course costs £1,750 to company staff with ITM members and £1,999 to individuals from companies without any ITM representation.

Testimonials
"Completing ITM's Travel Management Professional Certificate has proved invaluable in giving me the tools to ask the right questions to the right people and report on key issues to our senior management. I took something useful back to the office from each assignment which made the time I invested very worthwhile.
The certificate certainly lends more gravitas towards travel being taken seriously within companies and recognises the professionalism of those who manage it successfully on a day-to-day basis - I would highly recommend it."

"The course in Travel Management came just at the right time for me - I was looking for a qualification in travel to compliment my ever increasing job role as Travel co-ordinator. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and have used the knowledge I learnt on numerous occasions in my job role.
It was great to meet with people who have similar jobs and to share experiences, ideas etc. I would encourage anyone who is looking for a qualification in business travel to look at this course."
