Jackie Clark - VP Global Sales, Planning & Marketing Europe, Middle East & Africa for Japan Airlines My career in commercial roles within the airline industry began in 1998. I expanded my knowledge and commercial experience within British Airway UK Sales for the first few years of my career, undertaking account management roles within the Consumer, Trade and Corporate divisions. Managing top client relationships and managing teams within these roles. I expanded my experience as Business Development Manager, working with a relatively inexperienced team to develop and grow British Airways relationships with the small medium enterprises. This team was also the pipeline to develop new account management talent to manage the larger strategic accounts. In 2009 I moved to India as Managing Director for CallBA, British Airways wholly owned contact centre based in Delhi. This operation consisted of a team of 150 people delivering an effective operation supporting 9 markets including India, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Dubai, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh as well as specialist support for the UK. I was also responsible for British Airway’s Hong Kong base contact centre of 30 people servicing three Asian markets, including; China, Hong Kong and Japan. Whilst in this role I restructured the Management team, achieved a profit margin of 21% and delivered metrics and man-power planning programmes to be in line with the global contact centre strategy. The role gave me an insight and understanding of how different cultures are motivated and how key an effective management team is to success. I returned to the UK in 2011 as General Manager for UK Trade Sales and in 2017 I took on the role of Commercial Manager in Europe for Consumer sales. I redesigned the sales structure of the team taking into account a 50% head count reduction that needed to be implemented whilst keeping the team focussed on the business. A simplification of the market was achieved and a European approach developed rather than a parochial approach to each country. After a 19 year career in British Airways, I moved to Japan Airlines, a commercial partner of British Airways, to lead and expand a multi-channel global sales presence within Europe. Japan Airlines had always focussed on Japanese business and had not developed a global approach to expand the opportunities that global corporates and trade accounts could give them. We also expanded our Consumer sales presence working with high yield specialist leisure agencies.
