Qatar Airways, the national carrier of the State of Qatar, continues to rebuild its network, which currently stands at over 130 destinations operating more than 1000 weekly flights, with plans to expand to over 140 destinations by the peak of Summer. With more frequencies being added to key hubs, Qatar Airways continues to be the world’s largest airline, offering more global connectivity than any other airline, making it easy for passengers to travel when they need to. The airline currently operates out of three UK gateways: London Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh.
The global COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented challenges for the aviation industry and, despite this, Qatar Airways worked diligently to take people home safely and reliably and never ceased operations, its network never falling below 33 destinations including key cities such as Dallas- Forth Worth, London, Montréal, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo. The airline has also added seven new destinations in the past 12 months. Qatar Airways was able to continue flying thanks to its varied fleet of modern, fuel-efficient aircraft that has allowed for it to offer the right passenger and cargo capacity in each market.
The airline has accumulated unrivalled experience of how to safely and reliably carry passengers, implementing the most advanced safety and hygiene measures throughout the passenger journey. Qatar Airways is the first global airline to achieve a prestigious Skytrax 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating, with Hamad International Airport also being named the first airport in the Middle East and Asia to be awarded the Skytrax 5-Star COVID-19 Airport Safety Rating.
A multiple award-winning airline, Qatar Airways was named ‘World’s Best Airline’ by the 2019 Skytrax Awards for the fifth time – an industry first for any airline. It was also named ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’, ‘World’s Best Business Class’ and ‘Best Business Class Seat’, in recognition of its ground- breaking Business Class experience, Qsuite. In addition to this, Qatar Airways’ home and hub, Hamad International Airport, was ranked the “Best Airport in the Middle East” and “Third Best Airport in the World” by the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2020.
