5 Minutes with…Luke Perry

Agiito's Delivery Manager Luke Perry, after they won the Programme Achievement Team Award.

How does it feel to win this award?

It feels like a culmination of two years of hard work. From building the app from scratch with my team, most based in India and others in UK, we are very delighted to win this award which they all deserve for the efforts that have been put into making the app a success.

How did you get into business travel?

By pure chance really. I was a hairdresser looking for a new avenue into office work and my best friend’s partner at the time was working for a local TMC. I worked my way from answering the phones, to management, then implementation. I then came to Agiito almost six years ago and naturally became a Product Owner.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I really enjoy communicating with my internal and external customers, giving them the right information at the right time to ensure the releases go as well as possible. I also enjoy the design elements and having a say in how the product will look.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a career in business travel?

It’s a very exciting industry to be a part of that I feel encourages natural progression. There are so many avenues to explore to ensure you are making the most of your skillset.

What are you seeing as the biggest challenge in business travel over the next 12 months?

Looking at how we can manage NDC content I think will be a big challenge for business travel so we can continue to offer our customers the best fares.

If you could change one single thing in business travel, what would it be?

To accommodate travellers that identify as non-binary/gender fluid. Airlines are not doing enough, which makes them uncomfortable.

What’s the favourite place you’ve travelled to and why?

Being a massive rollercoaster fan, it’s got to be Florida. Having been lucky enough to go three times with my family, nothing beats going 80mph down a couple of hundred feet!

What would be your Desert Island item?

Probably one of my favourite music albums, the self-titled Aaliyah album pops into my head!
