It goes without saying what a period of immense change and challenge the last 18 months have been for us all in the travel industry. The recent re-classification of Portugal from Green to Amber is just one example of how we’re all having to pivot at incredible speed to support our customers. For us here at Collinson, for example, this wasn’t just an issue of providing a new, immediate compliant testing option but maintaining excellent service and standards. It truly was a race to get step-by-step guides, send communications to travellers at home and abroad, and prepare us all for the impact of the new Amber classification.
What it means for the industry at large is that we cannot take for granted long lead times or the luxury of ‘watch lists’ - the future of post-COVID-19 travel is all about adaptability. We’re making technology advancements and process improvements to everything from online booking and payments to the highly specialised medical testing processes - making them quicker, easier and more efficient.
