As ITM continues to welcome new voices to its Board, we’re delighted to introduce Matthew Pancaldi from Hertz as one of the organisation’s newest Board Directors.

With extensive experience across commercial leadership, customer engagement and mobility solutions, Matthew brings valuable insight and perspective to the ITM community. We caught up with Matthew to learn more about what motivated him to join the Board and what he’s most looking forward to in the role.

What motivated you to join the ITM Board, and what excites you most about the opportunity?

I’ve benefited from ITM, its leadership and members throughout my career. It’s been a constant source of knowledge, resources and information as the industry continues to evolve. This is a great opportunity to help shape the next chapter by supporting the continued growth of the organisation while helping develop the next generation of leaders of the future.

What perspectives or experiences do you hope to bring to the Board and wider ITM community?

My background spans sales, marketing and broader general management, with experience across both board and senior leadership roles. In my role at Hertz, I’ve been focused on driving commercial performance while keeping the customer at the centre of decision-making, and on adapting to a rapidly evolving mobility landscape.

I hope to bring that perspective of combining commercial discipline with a strong customer focus. I also have a keen interest in developing talent and mentoring, and I’m keen to support initiatives that build capability and nurture future talent across the industry.

What do you see as the biggest opportunities for the business travel industry over the next few years?

To further elevate the role of travel management from a tactical activity to a strategic value driver for more organisations.

As companies look for greater efficiency, transparency and smarter decision-making, there is real potential for the industry to play a more integrated role by leveraging data, technology and service innovation to improve outcomes for both travellers and businesses. This includes continuing to evolve towards more connected, end-to-end mobility ecosystems that make travel more seamless, flexible and responsive to changing customer needs.

What are you most looking forward to about working alongside the rest of the ITM Board?

Meeting and working with a diverse group of colleagues from different professions, disciplines and backgrounds who are all working towards a common goal. Business travel is ultimately a people-driven industry, and collaboration is key to unlocking progress. I’m excited to see what we can achieve together.

What’s one thing you’d love ITM members to know about you outside of work?

I’m currently trying to learn the piano. It’s very much a work in progress and it does not come naturally. But I’m persevering!

We’re delighted to welcome Matthew to the ITM Board and look forward to the insight, collaboration and fresh perspective he will bring to the wider ITM community.
